Eight Rangers Selected To Southern Illinois All Star Football Team

Eight Senior Benton Ranger Football players were selected to represent Southern Illinois in the Southern Illinois/Western Kentucky All Star Football Game on June 14.  This year the senior-only all star game will be played at McAndrew Stadium at Southern Illinois University.  The Benton selections are as follows:

Gavin Suver: Suver was a unanimous 1st Team All Conference selection and All South selection as an offensive tackle.  He helped anchor an offensive line that fronted 3166 total rushing yards and 1198 total passing yards for a total of 4364 offensive yards this season.

Daulton Ward: Ward also helped anchor an offensive line this year that helped put up a total of 4364 offensive yards...3166 on the ground and 1198 through the air.  Daulton was selected as a 1st Team All Conference player

Dylan Sheeks: Sheeks was a unanimous selection to the 1st Team All Conference team as well as an All South selection.  As a running back, he tallied 1378 total yards rushing and scored 22 touchdowns, averaging 7 yards per carry.

Dakota Cali: Cali was a unanimous 1st Team All Conference selection as a linebacker as well as a 2nd Team All Conference selection as a running back.  He was also an All South selection.  Cali led the Ranger defense with 76 tackles.  Of those 76 tackles, 9.5 were for a loss.  He also had 3 sacks and an interception for a TD.  Cali also rushed for 544 yards offensively.

Shane Bettenhausen:  Bettenhausen was a unanimous 1st Team All Conference selection 2 straight years, as well as being selected to the All South team this season.  Bettenhausen totaled 41.5 tackles and led the Ranger defense with 14.5 tackles for a loss as a defensive lineman.  Bettenhausen also totaled 4 sacks.

Cole Forby: Forby totaled 42.5 tackles as a defensive end for the Rangers, with 10.5 tackles for a loss and 4.5 sacks.  He was selected as a unanimous 1st Team All Conference defensive player.

Cameron Rock: Rock led the Ranger defense with 7 interceptions and two defensive touch downs.  His 49 tackles was good for second on the team.  Rock was selected as a 1st Team All Conference safety.

Austin Myers: Myers was selected as a 2nd Team All Conference defensive back. He totaled 37 tackles and 4 interceptions on the season.  Myers also tallied up 349 receiving for the Ranger offense.
